Your chats stay yours.
The short version: your conversations never leave your browser. ChatHub doesn't read, transmit or sell them — we couldn't even if we wanted to.
Overview
ChatHub is a browser extension that helps you organise AI conversations. It runs locally inside Chrome (and Chromium-based browsers), and is local-first by design: almost everything stays on your device in Chrome's local storage. The chats themselves stay on the AI platforms where you created them — ChatHub never reads, transmits, or sells your conversation content.
What we collect
- Folder names and the chat IDs you've assigned to them
- Chat IDs (references to chats, not their content)
- Bookmarks (bookmarked chat IDs and titles)
- Saved prompts (text you write)
- Device ID — a randomly generated identifier used for licence seat tracking
- Licence key — if you upgrade to Pro
- Email address — Pro sync users only, used for authentication and cloud sync
What we do not collect
- Conversation content — never collected, never stored
- AI responses from any platform
- Personal messages or anything you type into an AI chat
- Browsing history outside supported AI platforms
- Analytics, telemetry, or crash reports
- Billing or card details — these never touch our servers (see Third-party services)
Local storage
Most of your data stays on your device in Chrome's local storage (chrome.storage.local) and is shared with nobody. This includes your folder names, chat IDs, bookmarks, and saved prompts, plus your device ID and licence key. This data is available only in your browser unless you turn on Pro Cloud Sync.
Cloud storage (Pro sync only)
If you are a Pro user and enable Cloud Sync, your folders, saved prompts, and bookmarks are stored in Supabase so they can sync across your devices. Your email address is also stored in Supabase for authentication and to link your synced data to your account. We still do not store any conversation content. If you do not enable Cloud Sync, none of this leaves your device.
Third-party services
- Polar.sh — handles payments and licensing. ChatHub sends your device ID and licence key to Polar to validate your Pro licence and track seats. Your billing information (name, card) is handled entirely by Polar and never touches our servers. Polar's privacy policy applies to checkout.
- Supabase — provides authentication and cloud sync storage for Pro sync users (email address and synced folders/prompts/bookmarks). Supabase's privacy policy applies to that data.
Data sharing
We do not sell your data. The only data shared with a third party for validation is your device ID and licence key, sent to Polar.sh to verify your Pro licence. Pro sync data is stored with Supabase solely to provide the sync feature you opted into.
Permissions
- storage — to save folders, bookmarks and prompts locally
- tabs — to detect checkout completion and open the options page automatically
- host permissions for supported AI platforms — to inject the ChatHub sidebar UI
None of these permissions are used for tracking or data collection.
Data deletion
You can delete all of your data at any time from Settings → Data → Delete Everything. This removes your local data and, for Pro sync users, your synced data. You can also remove local data by uninstalling the extension or clearing extension storage from Chrome settings. To free up a Pro activation slot, use the Remove from this device button in Settings → Account.
